The FA Comets
session
will be run jointly with NPL who will host at their ground.
Initially, it will be a taster session and if it goes well, it will then be
something we potentially run (subject to volunteers) on a regular basis.
To provide an overview, Comets is a recreational, pan-disability football
programme for disabled boys and girls aged between 5 and 11. Pan-disability
is the largest format of disability football, which sees players with a
broad range of impairments and health conditions play together.
The idea on the 8th is that an FA coach will come in and run the whole
session which will be 2 hours long. The first hour will be a classroom based
for anyone who is thinking about volunteering whilst the second hour will be
on the grass for any kids who attend. Feel free to circulate the attached
posters for each session to anyone who may be interested in either
volunteering or a parent of a child who may like to attend.
To make this work, we'll need volunteers. If it does become a regular event,
we'll probably run it on a fortnightly basis at Bushy Park, most probably
early on Saturday morning.
There are a variety of online FA training courses for anyone who is thinking
about volunteering. The FA will also provide guidance on the structure of
sessions and will be on hand to assist where required.
Do let me know if you would be interested in volunteering and if you know
any children who would be keen on attending
